Will changing your thoughts ever pay off?
How to stay positive? How to change your thoughts? Why is it so hard to switch from being negative to being positive? What do you have to do in order to live a happier life? HOW to change your thoughts? Can you change all your negative thoughts overnight? Will all the "struggling" ever pay off?
Do these questions sound familiar? Do you ask yourself these as well? Do you want to go from living an unhappy, hopeless life to living a life in abundance?
Just Get Started
Well, I did have these questions. I still have some of them up to these days. While reading about all these successful people whom I call my idols and watching all these wonderful movies like "The Secret" or "The Opus" and wanting to follow their path and become just as successful as they are, I couldn't let be wondering about HOW they do that. HOW they went from eg. homeless to millionaire or a shy person to a motivational speaker or fighting with cancer to completely healthy. It all seems to easy! They tell you how to do it and all you have to do is follow their advice.
Right.
As if it was that easy.
Actually, it can be both easy and hard. It all depends on your thoughts and what kind of beliefs you have. But if the word "hard" scares you away, you better stop and think. Just because something is hard doesn't mean it's impossible. The most important thing is that you start doing it. Because once you've got started, it will get easier and easier every day. Right? It's just like writing an essay for your school project. Or start a new job. At the beginning you are lost in details, you don't know how to put the first word, what to say, what to write, what to do. But after a few hours or days, you find yourself getting used to what you are doing and even find it easier and easier. You know what I'm talking about. I'm sure you have experienced such a thing at least once in your life. Or twice. Or even quite often but you never really thought about it.
It Doesn't Have to Be Hard But You Have to Take Your Part
Alright, so you decide to start working on yourself so as to achieve your goal and change your thoughts from negative to positive. Great! The first step is done. But then, how to go on? Why is it so hard and why don't you see immediate results? Why do you keep struggling with doubts regarding whether it's going to work or not? And why does life seem much harder now when you are on the way towards a happy life, shouldn't it be the other way round? And anyway, things may have been much worse before but now, with all these new thoughts, everything feels so uncomfortable.. oh, and why do other people seem to overcome stumbling blocks easier than you? Or find it easy to be happy for no reason?
Why does it have to be so HARD???
Well, to tell you a secret, it's really not sure that all the people you think have an easy time thinking positive or solve problems in a second would agree with you. What you see is only the outside, you never know what's really going on in these people's lives. I am not telling you it has been easy for me beause I would be lying. Some things are easier, some things are still hard to overcome.
Then there is another important fact: everyone has been brought up in a different way, met different people, had different experiences. Some people may be able to find the way to their dreams easier than you. Some may not. The main thing is that you are persistent but patient with yourself.
You have to understand that you have to take your part and work on yourself. And that requires time. Energy. Patience. Persistence. Doubts. Even money. Though not necessarily. But even happy moments. Overcoming doubts. Success. Results. Victory. Miracles.
The question is: are you ready to do everything in order to get what you want? That's the principle all successful people share. Know what you want and go for it.
It May Take Some Time But It's Worth It
As mentioned before, all this takes some time. While I do believe in miracles and overnight success, I am still convinced that limiting beliefs especially those originating from one's childhood need some time to be cleared. The reason why I wrote this article was that I found a whole bunch of sheets of paper and notes I've made/gathered in the past 3 years. And then I looked at my bookshelf only to realize the amount of books I have read during all these years which made me think that the reason why I am where I am is thanks to all the work I have done on myself. I haven't really realized the amount of time and energy I have spent on my well-being until now.
Oftentimes people wonder how I can be so positive even when the world seems to go under. They don't understand how I can keep smiling even when having hard times. They don't know my "secret", they ask me how I do it...
So here is the answer: decide what you want and start working on achieving it! It might not work at once, but your persistence will pay off! I may not be where I want to be yet, I may not have reached all of my goals, but I did reach some of them and strongly believe I am on the right track to make my dreams come true. I do feel great more often than I did only a couple of years ago and have more happy moments than earlier. What is more I now can give advice to those who ask me for it and all the positive feedback I received shows that everything I tell you here works. You just need to find the way that works best for you and keep doing it. That's your job. Noone else can do it. Noone else can get you a happy life. Noone else can solve your problems. The only one that can do it is YOU.
Look for self-help books! I have mentioned a few in my articles and plan to keep mentioning them. Read my articles. Read other's articles and websites. Ask for help. Find a coach! Try EFT - Tapping. Make a list of positive affirmations. Make a list of quotes that help you keep going and motivate you. Talk to other people about achieving their goals. Find people who support you instead of letting you down. Talk to those who believe in you. Find a way to release stress and to help you concentrate on your goals. And finally: go for them. It will eventually pay off, I promise.
